Launched in 2020, CRMI is the fruit of a partnership between Chedid Capital and the London-based Institute of Risk Management (IRM). CRMI initially started with GRC (Governance, Risk Management, and Compliance) education and capacity building through accredited courses and diplomas for financial and non-financial professionals in the Middle East and Africa (MEA). Since its establishment, the Institute’s vision has grown in scale and scope, with greater focus on risk and resilience planning for private organizations, public-sector entities, and policymakers across the region. Today, CRMI aims to create centers of excellence and expertise in areas beyond GRC – such as ESG and cybersecurity – at the service of economic and sustainable development across the MEA region.

In 2023 and 2024, CRMI introduced new training and learning tracks, expanded its scope of services to include risk consulting and advisory, and extended its partnerships with public- and private-sector organizations. Landmark educational collaborations for the Institute in 2024 include its agreement with French Grande Ecole MBS School of Business for joint programs and training modules, and its Approved Professional Development Centre (APDC) status from the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) – allowing it to deliver CII-accredited courses to (re)insurance professionals in the MEA region.
